Oral Presentations

  • Keynote presentations are scheduled for 30 minutes with no Q&A.
  • Oral abstract presentations are scheduled for 12 minutes plus 3 minutes for Q&A.

 

Speaker Check-In

All speakers and presenting authors must provide their final presentation on a USB drive at Speaker Check-In, located in Centerville A, during the designated dates and times below. Both Mac and PC laptops will be used and equipped with the latest operating system. Presentations should be provided in Keynote or PowerPoint. Personal laptops may not be used and presentations cannot be emailed.The Speaker Check-In schedule is in place to ensure that all sessions run smoothly. Failure to submit your presentation as indicated may result in technical errors or missing elements of your presentation.  

 

NOTE: Format your slides for "wide-screen" 16:9.

Presenter Guidelines

  • Arrive at the Grand Ballroom 15-minutes prior to the session start time to familiarize yourself with the laser pointer, slide advancer, and stage set-up.
  • Check-in with the AV technician and find a seat near the Speaker Microphone Station, located near the front of the room.
  • The Session Chair will introduce you and monitor the length of the presentation.
  • A speaker timer will be visible from the podium.
  • A laser pointer and slide advancer will be available on the podium for your use.
  • All mobile phones must be turned off while you are presenting. Mobile phones on silent will cause feedback with the microphones. 

 

Posters

 

Poster Requirements

  • Poster presentation space is limited to the dimensions of 44 inches x 44 inches (111.76 cm x 111.76 cm).
  • Posters must be affixed to the boards with push-pins, provided by the Symposium.
  • Photography is prohibited in the poster sessions.
  • At least one of the authors must be present at your poster during your designated poster session time.

 

Suggested Poster Format

  • Poster numbers will be provided on-site and will be placed above your poster; you do not need to leave room on your poster for the number.

  • Posters should be easily read at a distance of 5 feet (1.5 meters).

  • A poster printed on one large sheet of matte or semi-gloss paper is encouraged. 

  • Include the title of the presentation in large letters, the authors' names, and the institution(s) where the work was completed at the top center of the poster.
  • Introduction and Summary/Conclusions sections are advised.
  • Lines of text should be double-spaced. 
  • Only text, graphs, photographs, and artwork may be placed on the poster board.

Poster Session Schedule

The last two digits of your poster number assignment will determine which session you will present at.  Your poster number will be emailed to you prior to the Symposium.  All posters will be displayed in the Grand Ballroom. At least one of the authors must be present at the poster during the presentation session time.  Attendees may view the posters at any time during the Symposium.

Poster Setup

Presenters must set up their posters on Monday, 25 September between the hours of 11:00 – 13:00.  All posters must be installed no later than 13:00. The poster area will open at 17:30 on Monday, 25 September for Poster Session 1.

 

Poster Dismantle

Posters must be removed on Wednesday, 27 September between the hours of 14:30 – 15:00 and 16:30 – 17:00. Posters remaining after 17:00 will be discarded.
